CHICK DAYS ARE HERE

 Chick Days are coming to B&D Pole Barn.  Order forms are available to be filled out at the store or by phone. Chicks will be ready to be picked up on March 18 and April 15.  Orders can be placed for other dates as well. Want brown eggs? Or maybe green and blue? We have you covered.  Standard, rare and premium egg laying breeds are available as well as meat birds, ducks, turkeys, bantams and guineas. All chicks will come with a care sheet and optional electrolyte packets to help them make a healthy transition to their new home.  From feeders, waterers and feed to treats, bedding and supplements, we have everything you need to take care of your new chicks.


CHICK CARE
Whether you are bringing home chicks, duckling or poults, all baby poultry has similar needs. They need to be kept warm, dry and draft free.  Place 2 inches of dry wood shavings on the floor of their enclosure and change it as it becomes wet and dirty. A heat lamp will be needed to keep the ambient temperate at 95 degrees. You will need to raise the lamp every 3-4 days to gradually decrese the temperature to 80 degrees.  Provide a ground or cumble feed that is formulated for the type and age poultry you have. Electrolytes can be offered in water for the first 3-5 days to help your chicks make a healthy transition to their new home.
